Kids Visit '05

Jonathan & Leah and John, Jillian, and Abi all came to Alaska in August '05 for vacation. It was really a treat for Darla as she was alone since it was during the time that Reg was deployed.

August 4, 2005 - Home, North Pole, & Fishing at Salcha River

Leah takes such a nice photo! I had her pose for this one. NICE! Posted by Picasa

Cute couple! Posted by Picasa

John, Jillian, Leah, and Jon outside of the Knotty Shop. We had just finished eating some ice cream! Posted by Picasa

While the ladies set up the picnic, the guys are already out fishing. Go figure! We used the umbrella because the sun was so bright, but there were clouds on the way...reckon it might rain? :) Posted by Picasa

Jon seems to be enjoying his afternoon. Posted by Picasa

Jon likes to fish, too. Notice Jillian sitting on the rocks in the distance. Also, they're are several fly-fishermen in the water. Posted by Picasa

Leah is so pretty! BTW, the lovely necklace with the Cross on it was lost just minutes after this photo was taken. We looked for so long, but never found it. Hopefully someone has come along since then that found it and loves it as much as Leah did. Posted by Picasa

Reeling it in; casting again; it's a never-ending circle of fun! You go John! Posted by Picasa

John loves fishing! Posted by Picasa

Abi sure enjoys playing in the sand. I think she loves the beach! Posted by Picasa

Sunning on the rocks! Posted by Picasa

Leah is helping Jon untangle his line. Looks like more clouds are coming! Posted by Picasa

Even Jillian gets in on the fishing! Posted by Picasa

Jon and Leah love to climb! They scare me sometimes! Posted by Picasa

Here's one of the few fish John was able to catch during his visit. I think he said it is a Rainbow Trout. It tasted pretty darn good whatever it was! Maybe next year he'll catch a King Salmon! Posted by Picasa

We have such a pretty daughter-in-law! Here Leah is starting to climb down from some steep rocks. Not sure why some folks think graffiti looks good 'coz I think it's so ugly! Posted by Picasa

Leah & John after climbing near Moose Creek. As coincidence would have it, they had also just spotted their first moose! Don't they look nice! Posted by Picasa

John is trying to feed a squirrel. We had stopped here to see the Reindeer that are kept at Santa Claus' House in North Pole, AK. Posted by Picasa

August 5, 2005 - Denali National Park

Leah's fising in the Tanana River behind a restaurant in Nenana, AK. We were on our way to Denali National Park. Posted by Picasa

Can you tell he's eating? :) The Tanana and Nenana Rivers merge together near that bridge over Jon's shoulder. Nice photo! Posted by Picasa

Self-explanatory... Posted by Picasa

Not sure what John was doing and why he wasn't in the photo, but it's one of my favorites, and I wish he'd have been in it! Look how relaxed and happy everyone is! It's always nice to get out of the car for a while when traveling! Posted by Picasa
